Style Week OC 2011… Starts off with a Rack Rave!

As you know I am always running around getting into Mischief and last Friday night was no exception!  I was very excited to find myself at Style Week 2011 at the Irvine Spectrum!  I had the privilege of mingling with some very well rounded OC bloggers and gained some valuable inside into my upcoming wardrobe…not to mention the talented Nick Verreos from Project Runway gave me some insider information about the ins and out of one of my favorite shows (Project Runway).

OC Style Week 2011

The Irvine Spectrum is one of my favorite places to shop so it was no surprise at the amount they put into this event.  From the exclusive candy bar to the individual vendors participating in the event, they pulled out all the stops.  The bloggers were treated to an amazing boxed dinner from Nordstrom’s and with how picky I can normally be about my tastes, it was as if a chef had personally prepared each of our meals.  The fun didn’t stop there either, the show started, the models were representing the clothing well and Nick (our host) did an amazing job of keeping the crowd laughing and interacting with the show.  My personal favorite part was when Nick pulled up a trendy gentleman and had him runway walk with his orange flannel shirt.  It was amazing!

The night continued to move forward with a raffle provided by Target for the attendees and a bloggers raffle provided by The Irvine Spectrum, which I was one of the fortunate winners.  Don’t worry I will be turning around and spending my gift card at the Spectrum to update my fall wardrobe.  And lastly as a proud blogger at the OC Style Event I was left with a parting gift bag off goodies form some of the great retailers in the Irvine Spectrum…but pictures are worth a thousand word, so check it out!

San Francisco Shopping Trip!

I love San Francisco… and the buzz of the city.  But even more then that I love to shop.  I just got back from a great long weekend with my boyfriend and I can’t get the Westfield San Francisco City Center out of my mind.  With six levels and over 200 stores to choose from, I’m actually surprised I didn’t get lost and miss my flight 🙂  When you walk in and see the round-a-bout escalators, you have to kink your neck a little to look up but it takes your breath away.  The minute you think you have seen everything, like every mall there seems to be an aisle you didn’t even know existed.  Trust me you will have a blast and get in your exercise for the day when shopping at the Westfield.

Urban Shopping

At the main hub for Cable Cars the  elaborate Westfield building sits and high end shops draw you in.  Of course I had to stop at the staples…Guess, Express, Urban Outfitters and this trip the Vans store pleasantly surprised me.  I have been wanting a pair of Toms for a while now but was wishy washy because they are pricy and I hear the soles wear out quickly.  This led me into the Vans store where I discovered the cutest pair of grey Vans which weren’t displayed where you would think they would be!  Lady’s and Gent’s don’t always dismiss the hanging shoe rack…you may find gold.

While much more was purchases on this exciting San Francisco shopping trip I would be here forever going over every great item.   Now that I am back in the OC I am tasked with cleaning out the closet to make space for my new clothing.  I will always remember our S.F. shopping day and the intense packing that I went along with a great vacation!

Summer Dresses Continued….

Everyone loves a summer dress…they are cute, comfortable and easy to accessorize.  So why not continue wearing your summer dressed in the winter?  I went through my closet and found some great ways to dress up my summer dresses and make them winter wear friendly.

Add a high boot – not only are high boots great for keeping your legs warm but they can add a little kick that will make your summer look more winter.

Add a jacket or half sweater – Adding a jacket or half sweater can keep your shoulders warm and gives you the opportunity to add some color to the mix.  You can spice up a cute sun dress without adding all the accessories, some jackets have the buttons and zippers to do it for you.  www.bubbleroom.com

Add some leggings – When in dough add leggings.  They come in so many colors and prints now that you can find any style that will compliment a cute summer dress.  I have found the best selection at Forever 2.  Yes if you are a mature women you may feel a little silly surrounded but teens but you will not regret the visit with all the options.

I have already gone through my closet in preparation for the summer months.  It’s always a good idea to keep these simple tips in mind when your shopping in the summer months.  Making your wardrobe have a longer life span can only help your pocket books bottom line 🙂

PS. A scarf is always an awesome winter choice as well!

Finding the Right Bathing Suit

With the clouds starting to finally part in Orange County I feel as though all I have been seeing lately are bathing suites.  While I am not enthusiastic about getting into a bathing suit and hitting the beach, I am exciting about the act of finding a new bathing suit for the summer session.  As I read all the Do’s and Don’ts of purchasing the right bathing suit for my shape I realized I look nothing like any of the women (that they say are average sizes) that are giving me buying advice.  Not to mention none of the bathing suit that were being featured were really catching my eye in terms of style.

So I set out to find my perfect 2011 bathing suit.  What better place to start then the Irvine Spectrum… being that there are plenty of stores to choose from.  Swim Spot, Tilly’s, Old Navy, Target, Oakley and even a little Forever 21 action just in case, Nothing!   And yes I stayed away from Nordstrom’s and Bebe because let’s face it dropping $200 on one bathing suit is only SLIGHTLY out of my price range.  Disappointed I packed my 2010 Guess bathing suit for my first trip of the year, Vegas, promising myself that when I got home I would continue the search.

Low and behold the light bulb came on.   I remembered a custom bathing suit shop in Laguna Niguel called Island Girl Beachwear.  So I sent out excited that I would find just what I was looking for, even though I really had no idea want I wanted.  Yes there was a lot to choose from, yes I tried on a few suits that I thought were flattering but no I wasn’t in love with any of them.

Defeated and on my way home I passes the Laguna Hills Mall and though “Why not!”  Oh… was that the best decision ever.  I discovered “Macy’s Swim.”  They are an affiliate of Macy’s but during the summer session they have their own stand alone store in the mall.  Not only is this a whole store dedicated to swim suits, brand name and not so brand name, it’s just for women J  After trying on a dozen bathing suits, instead of being disappointed I had to decide between three different Hurley suits that I loved and fit great…

Excited to have found my 2011 suit, which do you think I chose?
